Abington Township, PA – September 23, 2024 around 1AM, a home invasion occurred on the 1800 block of Horace Avenue, which soon led to the arrest of Khabir Shepherd. According to police reports, the victim, a woman who had just returned from a local casino, was confronted by Shepherd as she entered her home. Shepherd allegedly pointed a gun at her and forced his way inside, pushing her to the ground and snatching her purse from the dining room table. The woman’s horrifying cries for help awakened her adult son, who was asleep in a back bedroom. Reacting quickly, he grabbed his legally owned firearm and ran to his mother’s aid. Upon encountering Shepherd armed with a gun, the son fired two shots, hitting Shepherd in the back and arm. Shepherd tried to escape but collapsed on the front lawn, where police later arrested him.
A handgun, suspected to be the one used by Shepherd, was recovered at the scene. Shepherd faces charges of robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, and carrying a firearm without a license. He is currently detained at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility with bail set at $250,000.
